Sarah’s Bag and Beirut Graffiti.

While walking through a quiet neighborhood in Gemmayzeh, Beirut last year, I came across the most beautiful Graffiti I had seen. Arabic Typography!! How fresh is that? Took a couple of pics.

Well, browsing through the web today, I came across a shop selling Sarah’s Bag clutches and guess what? There it was…the grafitti that had sparked something special in me. Glad she noticed it too.

Azza Fahmy Jewelry.

“My long journey with jewelry-making all started with a book…” Azza Fahmy

Came across some beautiful Arabic jewelry today…the Azza Fahmy Collection. A little bit about it.

It all started when Azza Fahmy came across an art book about classic jewelry of the Middle Ages in Europe. She became fascinated and inspired. Rather than joining the Faculty of Fine Arts, she became an apprentice at Khan El Khalil where she learned all the tricks of jewelry-making.

She soon began making her own jewelry. Her first inspirations came from Salah Jahin’s Rubaiyat (colloquial poems). She engraved verses on necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, and chains. She studied Fattmid, Ayubid, Mamluk, Seljuk, and Mongul periods. She chose traditional proverbs, had them written in beautiful calligraphy and became an instant success. Azza Fahmy Jewelry has been in the Egyptian market for over thirty years.

Jewelry other than being used for personal adornment, in many cultures symbolizes deep-rooted ideologies, beliefs, and values.
In the Rumuz Collection, Azza Fahmy explores universal customs and practices to uncover traditional and diverse symbols that have over centuries influenced beliefs ranging from safe travel and protection to good luck and power of revealing secrets.

Smart Wedding Concepts.

Came across a great wedding blog entry. Always interesting to see what designers come up for their wedding concepts. Personally impressed that someone pulled off a pixel concept for wedding and it’s actually romantic.

For the full entry check out the blog here. Some pictures…
