Lebanese Designer Tarek Atrissi on Saudi Graphic Design Week

Tarek Atrissi talks about Saudi Graphic Design Week. I love this poster design.

“All in all, I was most impressed I think by seeing the emerging graphic design scene in Saudi Arabia and the motivated young generation of local Saudi female designers highly interested in design and typography. It was not surprising then to pick up a local graphic design magazine, “Design”, initiated by one of the graduates of the graphic design department of Dar El Hekma college.”

Ranunculus.

Found these lovely flowers at Designsponge a while back and fell in love. They are in full bloom in many farms in California this time of year. The ranunculus is from the same family as the buttercup and a relative of the anemone, but has a more complex petal pattern and comes in a wider variety of colors. They are a tuberous-rooted plant and the most common variety used as a cut flower is the Ranunculus Asiaticus, or Persian Buttercup. The name comes from the Latin “rana”, meaning “frog” (after the moist environments where many members of the Ranunculaceae family typically grow).
